Affirmative action ( a poem )

Moma A. asked for shelter,

some food,

a place to rest,

for her and those babies.

Was refused, the city said

funding cuts.

They closed on the home August 20,

1619 Colonial Ave.

Neighbors the right kind.

Moma A. lit a fire to keep warm,

to keep those babies warm,

under the highway.

Fire spread,

highway melted and house burned down.

All of it.
